Bulgarian Pop-Folk Music

Although some native Bulgarians do not like this music and claim it is just an easy way for cute little girls to make some money by singing the proper songs to the proper businessmen, many others enjoy the sound of this part of the Bulgarian culture and support any new Chalga Diva that may spawn from nowhere.

Lets just clarify for those of you who are not acquainted enough that "chalga" is just another word for "pop-folk".

Becoming the next Bulgarian big-hit pop-folk star does not require the singers to be actually able to sing, rather than get to know the right person in some big music production corporation, willing to put on as little clothes as possible and get involved into scandals that boost their PR enough to earn as much money as the sum of what everybody in their childhood neighborhood gets.

Yet, being a chalga singer isn't really as simple as most people may think it is. It requires devotion to acting stupid, as nobody buys records of smart people. It also requires that they go to live performances on playback at least once each week and during these it's recommended that they show a bit more skin then most of the girls attending the club.

Many people judge those girls too quickly, however, they just do not realize that the music itself may not be that bad and being accompanied by some good-looking girl it exactly what you need after a hard day at work. So just catching a glimpse of some of the most beautiful girls in Bulgaria, while listening to some relaxing music, may make you feel just the way you want.
